A guide to support caregivers

A Helping Hand is a guide financed by the Programme Nouveaux Horizons pour Aînés (PNHA ; New Horizon Program for Elders). The objective of these capsules is to help caregivers who need guidance in a specific situation.
This project, composed of video capsules and a guide in both French and English versions, has been thought and designed for people suffering from cognitive degeneration (Alzheimer's and related diseases) and their caregivers.

How can the book help you?

• The objective of these capsules is to help caregivers who need guidance in a specific situation.
• The different tabs allow caregivers to go directly to the section dealing with a particular issue where they will find advice.
• The video capsules available on ALPA's website present the same topics as the book in a different format.

About the author

Nancy Goulet, ALPA's Operations Coordinator and psychosocial worker, initiated this project. The lack of literature on the subject prompted the author to create this book to help caregivers. It is also inspired by a promise made to her grandmother that she would write about Alzheimer's disease.
Throughout the project, she teamed up with several volunteers who have experienced or are experiencing the reality of caregiving.
